In a time of digital displays and LED’s enjoying their time in the limelight, the world is definitely starting to notice the specialities and quirks of neon, how it is becoming an art form, all but lost, in its own right. LED displays are there to serve a purpose, whilst Neon Creations are here to bring art to life, it requires imagination and creativity to understand how using this light form can make such a difference.
At Neon Creations, we often admire how music artists and bands use neon lighting to create dramatic backdrops at their stage shows, in the album artwork and the themes running through the music to bring a light that can’t be found anywhere else. In this blog, we take a look at some of our favourite artists that utilise neon signs and take a throwback to a few of the previous neon music signs we have created for bands and singers.
Neon is arguably one of the last remaining handcrafted skills, it is living on and increasingly becoming a contemporary art form to be admired by all generations. It has had a resurgence in the music industry too, as artists begin to utilise this light form to decorate stages, as a theme throughout their album artwork and music videos.
As one of the UK’s most popular pop bands around at the moment, 1975 are renowned for using neon. For their second album “I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It”, artist David Drake was commissioned to produce artwork for each song.
Here are just a few of the signs that were created, with each their backdrops creating a theme for each track.
Their stage shows are also full of neon too, with boxes and lights filling the stage to emanate the electricity of the music.
We recently got a chance to go to Little Mix’s concert at the Manchester Evening News Arena, where we saw the Neon Creations’ which were commissioned to form their stage set up. Having previously worked with the girl band on album artwork a few years ago, we were delighted to be able to once again create something special for their shows.
Influenced by the likes of Foals, M83 and Chvrches, this electronic pop band from Liverpool recently contacted us to create some simple, yet effective Neon music sign that we created for their stage set up. We love understanding how taking someone’s logo and ideas can take their stage set up to the next level.
Everyone wants to see their name in lights, and with our Neon Creations that’s exactly what we’ve been able to do; click here for a few throwback images of neon signs we have created for music artists in the past. Contact us for custom-made neon signs.
