Unique Christmas Gifts

January25

If you’re anything like me, each year when Christmas comes round, you’re scratching your head for an idea for a Christmas present for your nearest and dearest, who has got everything they need.

A custom made neon sign, or one of our other custom made neon products would make a completely unique present, and is something that will never go out of fashion or need to be updated with more modern technology.

We have a range of different customisable neon products, starting with custom made neon signs…..

…..backlit neon mirror boxes……

…..neon infinity boxes……

We are able to design something for you, or if you want the neon to be truly personal, you can send us your own design for us to translate into a neon gift. Please see examples below where we have been sent a design to work to:

To get an idea of what we can do, please take a couple of minutes to look at Our Gallery, where you will find many examples of fonts and colours.

If you are interested in one of our neon products as a Christmas gift, please contact us on 01204 655866, or info@neoncreations.co.uk, as we would love to discuss your ideas with you.

Tracey Emin Neon

January25

There is no doubt that the work of Tracey Emin is unique and interesting, with our interest particularly being in the neon art that she has produced.

Tracey Emin is an English artist, born in Croydon in 1963. She is renowned for the autobiographical art that she produces, depicting events from her life, and expresses herself through needlework, sculpture, drawing, photography, painting, and of course neon.

There are a number of neon art pieces that Tracey Emin has completed. You only need to type ‘Tracey Emin neon’ into Google Images to take a look at the works she has produced.

One of Emin’s most recent neon installations, ‘For You’, is in Liverpool Cathedral. It is placed underneath a large stained glass window, is 20ft wide and reads, “I felt you and I knew you loved me”, in pink neon, styled in Tracey’s own handwriting.

In 2007, Emin donated her neon work ‘Keep Me Safe’ to charity auction. At over £60,000, it fetched the highest price ever for one of her pieces of neon.

A number of celebrities are the proud owners of Emin’s neon work. In 2007 she produced a neon installation entitled ‘George loves Kenny’, for George Michael and Kenny Goss, which was used as the main feature of their inaugral exhibition at their Dallas museum. Kate Moss has also been on the receiving end of one of Emin’s neon art works.

At Neon Creations we are regularly sent examples of Emin’s work and asked if we can recreate something similar. As this work is a specific design to an artist, we would never be able to copy it, but what we do encourage people to do is to send us their own personal ‘phrase’ in their own handwriting. From this we are then able to advise whether we can recreate this in neon.

So if you are a fan of Emin’s work, and would like to see your own ‘thoughts’ reproduced in neon, please contact us and we would love to discuss your ideas with you.

Neon Sign for Launch of DJ Hero

January25

One of our latest projects has been the maunfacture of the DJ Hero logo in white neon ready for the launch of the music video game at the end of October.

DJ Hero is a spin-off of the Guitar Hero computer game, and has been developed by FreeStyleGames, and published by Activision, and the sign will be used during launch events and on roadshows.

We made this neon sign on behalf of NJLive, a London based events company, for whom we have already produced a number of bespoke neon signs, including one for the RockBand music video game, XBox 360, and Microsoft XNA.

Bespoke Neon Signs for Manchester School of Art

January25

Having worked closely with the Manchester School of Art (part of Manchester Metropolitan University) on a recent exhibition piece, we are now in talks with them to provide workshops/advice on the neon making process, and how this could be incorporated into the work of students who follow the Three Dimensional Design BA (Hons) degree course.

Three Dimensional Design is a studio and workshop based programme, which supports students in a range of craft and design for production practices, including glass blowing and hot glass.

We recently manufactured a neon light in the form of a tree, which was then sandwiched between a glass tree shape, which was produced from traditional and contemporary glass processes, including water jet cutting. A red and blue version of the neon light were made, with the red one eventually being chosen for the final display piece.

We are now liaising with Kirsteen Aubrey, Lecturer on the degree course, and David Crow, Head of Department of Design, as to how we can work closely with them to develop different ways that neon can be used with different materials, and we are looking at organising a series of workshops in which students can come into the glass shop to see how neon lights are manufactured.

Neon Creations Ltd are specialists in the design and manufacture of custom made neon signs, neon lights, neon products and neon art.

We supply our neon lights for a wide range of applications including branding, events, entertainment, gifts, art, and home use, and believe that our love of neon shows in the quality of work that we produce.

Offering a high quality product and service across the UK, our client base ranges from private individuals, advertising and design agencies, event organisers, interior designers, artists and galleries, through to the music, media and entertainment industry.

We hope you find our articles of interest, and would love to hear from you if you have an idea you would like to discuss.
